Precision Agriculture

What is precision agriculture?

Essentially you fly a drone equipped with a multispectral sensor above your crop fields. This gathers spectral data about crop health (by detecting the color of the crops) and photogrammetry data. To my understanding, both are imported into Pix4Dfields where they are stitched together. This data is then fed to a variable rate application system which sprays pesticides only where they are needed.

Biomimicry This reminds me of that interesting chapter in Biomimicry about the innovative farm that used perennial mixed/multi crops (polyculture). The technology is cool but it doesn't solve the fundamental problem of pesticides (which I still know very little about). This technology could potentially aid in a process like that too.

They sell $10000 multispectral sensors!
